Specifically the evening of Wednesday, 7th May 2008...
I no longer trust 131500 as much as I once did - It told me to get on a 333 from Elizabeth St to get to Fox Studios - I look at where I had to walk, it was about 800m and through a bunch of random back streets. But ok, that's fine. So I get on the 333 and ask where the closest stop to Fox Studios is and the driver says he doesn't go anywhere near. So he let me off at the next stop and told me to get on a 39x (x being any number), or a 376. Anything that goes up Anzac Pde.
So I got on the 376, and the driver doesn't speak much English. So he's not much help. So I just keep my eyes peeled for any sign of Fox Studios. Turns out it's very easy to get to, this bus dropped me right outside. The 333 would take me around the back.
So I get there and stand in line, expecting Tom and his friend Nath to be there any minute... I wait a while and decide to call them.
"I'm here, where are you guys?"
"We're umm... hey where are we? We're in Wynyard"
"Right... Well the doors are open"
"Ok, we'll..."
*silence*
*beep-beep-beep*
Ok, I think to myself, I'll just go eat something... so I look for somewhere to eat and i find a little burger place that sold sausage rolls for $5. Yep, it's expensive. I order one anyway because I know I won't get any cheaper anywhere else and what I get is well worth $5! It's not a sausage roll, it's a freaking sausage
hamburger! Yeah it's on a (toasted) roll, and it has a sausage on it, but it also has cheese, lettuce, tomato (yuk) and tomato sauce. Something you'd pay $15 for in a restaurant. I'm pretty stoked. The can of Pepsi Max was $2.50 though.
Tom and Nath finally get there and I find out they left the tickets in their car and only realised at Milson's Point so had to go all the way back to Chatswood Station to get them. Wow....
Behind Crimson Eyes opened - we missed all but 1 1/2 songs because Tom was putting stuff in the cloak room... but that's ok because they weren't that great. Atreyu came on at around 7:30, and I lost Tom and Nath about 30 seconds into the first song. I spent most of the time Atreyu was playing in the heart of the pit getting pummeled from every side, sweating, struggling to breath and having my feet stepped on. It was so much fun! I was impressed with them live, I wasn't expecting much but they were very good. The drummer is an amazing singer. The lead singer is... ok.
Then came Bullet for My Valentine... wow, they were fantastic. Not a single wrong note was played or sung and everyone was completely in sync. I spent most of this time in and out of massive pit circles, running around screaming, spinning, flailing, jumping, singing, falling over, getting trodden on and realising I'm a little dehydrated. I loved it.
Avenged Sevenfold were also great! M. Shadows has an incredible voice... amazing. They played Walk by Pantera and got a random from the audience to sing it, who I think did a better job than the lead singer of Pantera ever did. Apparently when they were in Brisbane they got 3 guys up on stage and none of them knew the words

I was a little disappointed by Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance because they were absolutely maggot and as a result screwed occasionally. It wasn't so noticeable during the verses and choruses when the attention was on M. Shadows but Synyster screwed up at least 2 solos. To me that shows a huge lack of respect/appreciation for the fans.
They were still amazing though, and would pay to see them again because I love their music. So glad they played A Little Piece of Heaven as their encore piece! I had so much fun in that song...
Then I went home and left my phone in Kenny's car, which I (thankfully) got back this morning.
This ended up being considerably longer than I intended. My apologies.
